A meta-analysis of the William Institute in 2007 scrutinized 50 studies about workplace discrimination against the LGBT people. This analysis showed consistency of bias against LGBTs, 68 percent of which were reported to have experienced employment discrimination while 17 percent were denied or fired from employment. The Center Orange County aims to fight and advocate against such discrimination and promote social justice for the LGBT community and sector. Their programs also include diversity training, hate crimes network, transgender resources, women’s health, room space referral, programs for the youth and the young adult, as well as a men’s program.
Aside from advocating LGBT civil rights and issues like parental rights (same gender parents) and same sex marriage, the group is also active in pursuing legislations and acts for the well being of the LGBT community as well as develop public policies for LGBT issues by lobbying and meeting with public policy makers as well as legislators and officials.
